Zebra RFID Label Printers Logo

RFID barcode printers come in industrial, desktop, and mobile barcode printer form. Applications that require RFID equipment need RFID barcode printers/encoders to instanteously print RFID labels for RFID barcode printers, encode RFID labels for RFID barcode printers, and verify RFID labels for RFID barcode printers.

RFID barcode printers have different features to pay attention to when choosing the correct one. These features include:

  • RFID barcode label width: The width of the RFID barcode label that a RFID barcode printer is able to print on. Common RFID barcode label widths include 2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches, 8 inches.
  • RFID barcode label DPI: DPI means "Dots per inch". The higher the DPI, the higher the quality of the RFID barcode label. Common RFID barcode label DPI include 203 dpi (printing text/RFID barcodes), 300 dpi (printing text/RFID barcodes and pictures), and 600 dpi (printing high quality text/RFID barcode and/or pictures ).
  • RFID barcode label printing technology: A RFID barcode printer will print in one of two ways. The first RFID barcode label printing technology is direct thermal RFID barcode label printing. With direct thermal RFID barcode printing, the RFID barcode printer will use heat from a print head to print directly onto media that has a special chemical on it. Direct thermal labels are meant to be for temporary applications, such as shipping labels. The direct thermal RFID barcode labels should not be exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight, since the direct thermal RFID barcode labels will blacken. The second RFID barcode label printing technology is thermal transfer RFID barcode label printing. With thermal transfer RFID barcode label printing, a printhead applies heat to a ribbon which in turn melts the ink from the ribbon onto the label media. Thermal transfer labels are ideal for higher image quality and when labels need to last more than six months.
  • RFID Frequency:HF frequency vs. UHF frequency. In order to choose the right one, it depends on the application. HF frequency tags have a larger memory for storing data, as well as higher security. The cost though is about $1 a tag. UHF freqency tags are less in price and have a smaller memory and no security, but now UHF frequency tags with a larger memory are coming out.

If at this point you are still in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail us with questions about a RFID barcode printer.
