RFID readers are used to interrogate/read RFID tags. A reader has an RF module, which is a transmitter and a receiver of radio frequency signals. A signal is sent from the RFID reader and in turn awakens RFID tags within its range. The data of the tag is then sent back to the RFID reader for processing. An RFID reader is necessary to read RFID tags.
